To move past those feelings of guilt and shame around divorce, I first had to…
Are you moving on in the flow of life and going where your goals and dreams are taking you?
Are you still pretty much stuck where you were 4 weeks, 4 months, or even 4 years ago?
Or maybe you find yourself taking two steps forward and one back (and sometimes one step forward and two back! It happens!)
Is your life heading where you want it to be? Or are you still in the same place, a place of hurt, a place of confusion maybe, a place where you are still seeking the clarity you are looking for?
My biggest hope and wish for you is that you are moving on and taking steady and consistent steps towards the life you are aiming for.
That you can see the things you are aiming for are within your reach: you can almost touch them, smell them, and feel their reality.
If not, if the goals and dreams still seem too far away or just not possible at the moment, then I have another question for you.
But before you read on, I need to give a tough love alert here!
Are you moving on or waiting for something to happen first?
What are you waiting to happen before you take action to get you where you want to be?
Are you waiting for:
- the ‘time to be right’?
- the children to leave home?
- someone to give you ‘their blessing’?
- the time when you have assessed all the options, considered everything fully and carefully, and are ready to make a decision?
- the sun to shine?
- your winning ticket to come up?
- someone else to make the first move?
- a person to make it safe for you to take the first step?
- another to take an action first?
- a knight in shining armour?
- the world to come to its senses? (good luck with that one!)
- somebody to offer?
- another person to come along on the journey with you?
- someone to notice you?
- a diploma or other quaification?
- someone to give you the go-ahead?
In essence –
Do you feel the time will be right when something else happens first, or somebody else acts first?
Many of us so often put others first which means there’s no time for us.
You are the most important person in your world
We may delay doing things for ourselves for so many reasons,
but, the truth is YOU are the
- most important person in your life.
- person you spend the most time with.
- only person who can get you to where you want to be.
- life purpose for yourself
So today I want to encourage you to take a deep look at where you are and what you are doing to get you to where you want your life to be.
And if you are not where you want to be, make a list of all the things that are stopping you getting there.
Then review them.
Are they really stopping you or are they things you are telling yourself are stopping you?
Scrub out the ones that are excuses. Ta da!
Look at what’s left.
What action can YOU take to get things moving for you?
